The ink was still wet on the ceasefire that marked the official end of the Second Chechen War, before Russia and the Caucasus Emirate came to deadly blows again in 2009. Bitter warfare has raged ever since, and things got even worse when ISIS reared its ugly head and joined the fight alongside the Caucasus Emirate. Russian forces count 1.078 casualties so far, whereas CE and ISIS forces lost 2.085 insurgents.
