10. Darfur
Few regions in the 21st century have been as drenched in blood as Darfur. Fighting broke out in 2003 after the “SLM” and “JEM” rebel groups accused the government of oppressing the non-Arabs. The government’s response was to unleash a campaign of ethnic cleansing of genocidal proportions. UN estimates that 300.000 people have been killed and close to 3.000.000 have been displaced due to the massacre.
