German Federal Police
The GSG 9 special operation unit became a part of the German Federal Police in 1972 during the Munich Summer Olympics kidnapping incident. Their role was crucial in freeing the 11 Israeli athletes and they have been called upon to handle many high profile cases of extortion, kidnapping and terrorism ever since.
