Penny’s character was originally going to be a hard-drinking makeup artist.
Penny’s character was developed to be a Cheesecake Factory employee and aspiring actress. Initially, however, she was supposed to be an alcoholic who made a living by becoming a makeup artist. We can imagine it, but we suppose it might be tedious to always include alcohol in scenes. She might come off as a bad example and her lines as a drunk lady might be a little more difficult to compose so thank goodness for the last minute change!
