Connie Francis, Born in 1937 – Who’s Sorry Now?
Concetta Rosemarie Franconero, better known as Connie Francis, was born in an Italian neighborhood in Newark, New Jersey, on December 12, 1937. She was musical from the start, thanks to her laborer father’s encouragement, and at the age of four, Connie gave her first performance in the Olympic Amusement Park, where she played the accordion and sang Anchors Aweigh.
At the tender age of 10, she was performing on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour Show at the Mosque Theater in Newark, playing the accordion and singing St. Louis Blues. Francis’s songs like Who’s Sorry Now? and Where the Boys Are are still hummed by a wide generation of people.
