Laura Kuenssberg began her journalism career at local radio and cable TV stations before joining the BBC. She won a regional Royal Television Society Award for her work as a home affairs correspondent. In 2015, she became the first woman to be named political editor at the BBC, succeeding Nick Robinson. Kuenssberg won broadcaster of the year from the Political Studies Association. She maintains a quiet private life with her husband, James Kelly, a management consultant. The couple lives together in east London and do not have any children.
