Barbara Eden, Born in 1931 – I Dream Of Jeannie

Barbara Eden is an American singer, producer, and actress, well known for her starring role in the sitcom series I Dream Of Jeannie. In her early days, before entering the world of acting, Eden was titled Miss San Francisco in 1949. However, her television career truly began in 1955 on The Johnny Carson Show.

From thereon, Barbara made numerous television appearances on various shows. In addition, she had a small role in the primetime soap opera Dallas as a revenge-seeking billionairess for five episodes. Later, in 2011 Eden wrote a memoir Jeannie Out of the Bottle. The book spoke about her Hollywood career and her personal life.

Harry Belafonte, Born in 1927 – Try to Remember

Among the most successful singer-songwriters of his time, Harry Belafonte was given the title ‘King of Calypso’ for promoting Caribbean music and introducing it to a global audience. But interestingly, the man did not limit himself to just one genre! In fact, he has recorded albums in even gospel, folk, and blues in addition to ”American Standards.”

Also, Harry used his platform to always advocate for human rights and freedom of speech, since he said goodbye to music. He then began working on various movies and television. Could you think of a human being who is capable of so many things in a lifetime? We can’t!

Helen Shapiro, Born in 1946 – You Don’t Know

Helen Kate Shapiro is a British actress, jazz and pop singer. In 1961, two of her songs were UK chart-toppers, You Don’t Know and Walkin’ Back to Happiness. Surprisingly enough, she was just 14 years old when she recorded both these songs. In addition, even before the age of sixteen, Helen was voted Britain’s “Top Female Singer.”

To top it all off, The Beatles’ were an opening act on one of her shows in 1963. The band members John Lennon and Paul McCartney even wrote a song for her called Misery. However, her team declined the song without her knowledge. Shapiro has been married to actor John Judd since 1988.

Petula Clark, Born in 1932 – Sailor

Petula Clark is a British composer, singer, and actress. Her professional career started amidst the Second World War for BBC Radio as a child entertainer. The first UK hit of hers was The Little Shoemaker; she also began recording in French within the next two years. Later, at the age of 12, Petula was discovered by movie director Maurice Elvey. She was cast in his war drama Medal for the General.

From thereon, it was all upwards and onwards for Petula. She starred in several television shows and movies. Later in 1950, Clark launched her own afternoon show called Petula Clark. Pet’s Parlour.

Rebecca De Mornay, Born in 1959 – Risky Business

American actress and producer, Rebecca De Mornay’s career was always going to be successful. Still, it rose to prominence after her breakthrough role in the ’80s film ‘Risky Business’ alongside now superstar, Tom Cruise.

Since then, Rebecca has gone on to feature in several films and television shows. She even starred in a music video for the soft rock band ‘Starship!’ Now, she’s still expanding her already impressive resume in her sixties. We look forward to seeing what more she has in store for us in the years to come!

Bo Derek, Born In 1956 – 10

Lauded for her ethereal beauty, Bo Derek took the world by storm after she appeared in a series of movies like ‘Tarzan, the Ape Man’ and ’10,’ directed by her then-husband at the time of its release. Her gorgeous looks weren’t limited to the cinemas alone as she was also featured in magazine covers more than once!

Now in her sixties, Derek considers herself to be in semi-retirement. Still, she makes the occasional red-carpet appearance, especially now that she has found love once again in John Corbett. Aside from media events, Derek allots time for other causes targeted to animal welfare and veterans’ affairs.
